The Membership Transfer letter for churches is used when a church receives a request or needs to transfer membership from one church to another church.

In today's mobile society, it is common for people to visit other churches before they actually commit to the one they want to call their home church. A church can easily transfer a church membership within a specific denomination, but moving from one denomination to another can add steps in the process.
One of the steps of a membership transfer is to meet the new Pastor and verify whether the denomination accepts simple transfers from your denomination. Transferring within a denomination often requires the membership transfer letter approved by a vote of the previous congregation. Ask the Pastor how to begin this process if the conditions meet your approval.
Next, you can submit the membership transfer letter to the secretary of the new church. This transfer process is often completed within a few weeks depending on the factors of the new church involved.
The church member requesting the transfer should meet individually with the Pastor of the church they are leaving. They should thank the Pastor and make a commitment to pray for the Pastor and the church congregation.
Also, they should say goodbye to their Sunday School classes if applicable and/or Bible Study, and they should stress their positive outcomes of their experiences within the church. They might offer their rationale in leaving the fellowship in a winsome, but truthful way.
