I want to start out first of all by saying THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS!!! My surgery on my neck went fantastic and I'm recovering very quickly. I'm taking it slowly, but feeling better every day. I'm still under dr's restrictions right now, but can respond to emails. Also I want to thank you for your prayers on the heat we have endured here in Oklahoma. The Monday (8/8) of my surgery we had rain and several days of lower temperatures since I asked you to pray. VBS Followup IdeasVacation Bible School (VBS) Follow-up Ideas In most churches, VBS is their largest summer activities. It usually takes up the form of a day camp including games, crafts, bible lessons, and many other activities. This is the time of the year when churches all around the country are either wrapping up their VBS for the summer or getting their VBS in before the school year starts again. All the planning was done several months ago, volunteers were recruited, supplies were purchased, skits were rehearsed, games were planned, and VBS went off without a hitch. Everyone breathes easier with a sigh a relief and wishes one another a hearty, “I can’t wait until we can do this again next year.” Often though, we tend to move forward to quickly and we forget a valuable asset such as collective knowledge, comments and suggestions of those who worked your VBS. While it is still fresh in their minds, ask your staff and volunteers for their input on what went well, what didn’t work and what could be done differently next summer. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to improve your VBS by reflecting on the past. Immediately or shortly after VBS is over, give everyone a questionnaire (below) and ask them to give you some input. It’s the time after VBS that’s the most crucial to your program’s success as an outreach tool. You need a follow-up plan to ensure that the children and their families return to your church.
