Thanksgiving Planner Forms & Guide

Many people look forward to Thanksgiving simply because the majority, if not all, of their family members will be together for the first time all year. This creates a time of happiness and catching up on each other’s lives.

The true meaning of Thanksgiving is being thankful for what you have whether this is family, church, job, etc. Being thankful should be an everyday occurrence, but Thanksgiving is when you and your family can be thankful together.

I know this planning guide and these forms are a little late getting to you but you can still make great use of this now and in the coming years for Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Dinner Planning Guide

  • Three weeks before Thanksgiving, start planning your menu. Decide what kind of turkey or other meat you’re going to have (grilled, deep fried or baked). You can start shopping early for frozen items such as rolls, pie mixes, turkey (if frozen), etc. You can also start decorating the outside and planning how you will decorate the inside of your home. Finally, start cooking double-sized meals so that you don’t have to worry about cooking family meals the week of Thanksgiving.
  • The weekend before Thanksgiving, go ahead and do any major cleaning that you will need to do, especially if your guests are staying overnight. Go shopping for all the items that you have not gotten yet after double checking menu. If anyone asks what they can bring it’s usually better to ask for desserts or finger food since they’re easy to transport and not so bad if forgotten. Prep your kitchen by removing any unnecessary clutter since you will definitely need all the counter space.
  • A few days before Thanksgiving, check your menu again to make sure you’re not missing any vital ingredients. You should also go ahead and make anything that can be done ahead of time such as pies, dips, veggie trays, etc. You can save time by prepping your fresh produce by chopping and bagging them. You can also do this with casserole ingredients so that on Thanksgiving all the prep work is done.
  • The day before Thanksgiving, put together any veggie trays if you’re going to have these and some go ahead and make their mashed potatoes. You can also go ahead and set the table so that you’re not scrambling to do this at the last minute.
  • On Thanksgiving Day, spend some time in the morning putting together any casserole dishes you prepped earlier. Always allow plenty of time for cooking the main course since it will take the longest. Plan for the meat to finish cooking around an hour before you intend to serve the meal, that way if it takes longer than expected you still have plenty of time.
The perfect Thanksgiving dinner is ready. It may seem a little stressful, but it really isn’t that bad if you prepare and organize ahead of time with these Thanksgiving Planner Guide and forms (below)! Happy Thanksgiving!
