Contents-At-A-GlanceTeacher Guide to Veterans Day
Teacher Guide to Veterans DayThe United States has been in many major world conflicts in the 20th and 21st centuries. In 1914, the United Stated joined Britain, France and Russia in World War I against the triple alliance of Germany, Italy and Austria-Hungary. Just over 116,000 were seen by the U.S. since the Civil War, this was the United States highest number of war-borne casualties. In 1918, at the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, fighting ceased in World War I. Formally known as Armstice Day, Veterans Day (November 11th) is a day to honor veterans living or dead who have given so much to protect our country. With our armed forces fighting enemies overseas and at home, Veterans Day is even more significant.

Veterans Day Flag Stick CraftAmerican Flag Stick Craft This is a simple to make U.S. flag made from craft sticks. Since this tiny flag does not have the correct number of stars and stripes, explain to the children that the real flag has 13 red and white stripes (that represent the 13 colonies) and 50 stars (that represent the 50 U.S. states).
